this sounds like an exam question.
the symbols in that block are for powering external devices not the device itself, yes i could set the buck to something like 5.6v and then add diode to stop…
they could however, one buck runs at 8 volts and one runs at 5, i would perfer to have a cut off higher for the 8 volt one so that the racer can still report back that it has reached a low enough…
could do, however the main reason for it was bom consolation as 2 are already being used for an i2c and uart buffer so another would only add an extra 20c to the bom cost

check link to falstad sim below the fet, this is just a protection diode that should stop the fet from blowing up when turning on and off juice from the battery
